5 Great Reasons to Date before Marriage

Dating before marriage is vital. it helps couple decides whether they would spend the rest of their life with each other or not. dating is usually referred to as courtship, because it is a relationship that is heading towards marriage, it has passed the stage of just getting to know each other So what do we hope to achieve from waiting for so long in the name of dating? Is there really a minimum amount of time necessary to safely go from the process of meeting to dating to engagement to marriage, without all but guaranteeing divorce? I will not deny the fact that some couples meet, date, and marry in a very short time and still have a wonderful ever after. While some couples on the other hand, date for so many years only to end up divorcing.
So, in my judgment, it doesn’t really matter the amount of time for couples to date before getting married, but how well you know and understand your potential spouse. When planning to get married, there are varieties of reasons why dating before marriage is necessary and they include:

1.      Dating Helps Couple to Understand Each Others' central part.

We often focus our attention on things that are a bit shallow like shared hobbies, interests, and favorite media each time we date.  Due similarities in these areas can be a great foundation such as feeling great having the same foods as your favorite or going out together, but they are not necessarily a good beginning. It is not advisable to get stock on these things. Deeper values, such as your financial capability, faith or belief, lifestyle, character, manners and life goals are VERY important to find out. dating before marriage allows couple to try as much as they can to understand and discover you likes and dislikes. the more you understand your partner, the more likely you will be able to get along and be prone to each others' behavior even better when you eventual get married. it is during this courtship period that you get to know what you can handle, and characteristics that you will not be able to live with.

2.      It Also Helps Couple to Know Each Others' Friends.

You will agree with me that people intentionally hide their behavior while dating. But when you mingle with each others' friends you will able to figure out who they truly are. There is this adage that says “show me your friend and I will tell you who you are”. who we choose to spend time with and the things we do together certainly say something about the person we are and want to be, even though everyone may not be entirely defined by his or her friends. Associating with someone’s core friends is a sure way to see someone as he or she usually is.

3.       Dating Helps lovers to know Each Others' Family.

Sometimes, we see someone’s behavior from the way and manner he or she relates and treats his parents or siblings. For instance, if a guy respects, cares and loves his family member, is likely he will do the same to his partner but if he is rude and impatient to his family members, is likely he will treat you similarly when you eventually get married. If he beats his mother, the possibility that he will turn you into a pouching bag is there. Family is something to pay attention to even though some people are significantly different from their family which means that no one is defined only by their relatives. A bad family life may not necessarily be a deal breaker. Still, you can learn a lot about someone by meeting his or her family.
       4.      It Helps Lovers to Manage Stressful Situations Together
You can learn a lot of important things about someone by seeing how he or she reacts in a a stressful events or situation. For instance, in one of your outing together, you guy’s car happens to be bashed, what was his reaction like? Or you guys got stuck in traffic, how did he managed the situation? Does he remain calm and reasonably pleasant even when things didn’t go his way at all? Answers to these will give you the assurance and confirmation of your compatibility and you will also be aware of how he acts in such a moments. It is in these life situations that you see your partner for who they are, and their ability to handle difficult situations that may also arise in marriage. However, for some couples, these situations open up their eyes to the realities of the life they are likely to live in marriage and they choose to opt out.

   5.        Dating Helps Couple To Focus And Evaluate On What They Should Expect In Marriage
Future plans and ambitions of a couple are discovered when dating before marriage as they discuss different aspects of their lives. It is during the period of dating that couple set their goals and discuss on what they expect from each other if they eventually get married. Plans like the number kids the man would like to have, if you as the lady is not comfortable with it, you can opt out. Or the sex pattern of the man, you also find out if he cheats ie. if he womanizes, if he does, can you coup with that? Most of the time, the plans and even ambitions of each partner may differ because they are living individual lives. These focus will help you evaluate whether you are ready for marriage or not, and the responsibilities that come with it. There are some couples that have realized while dating before marriage, that they are not compatible with each other and have ended the relationship before getting married. However, as the courtship progresses it is important to be aware of the possibility of harmonizing future plans, so that you have the same focus.

In actually sense the amount of time different couples learn and understand each other varies. Still, acquiring the knowledge of knowing someone well before you marry is very much possible and beneficial, and doesn’t have to take forever. Choosing a marriage partner is a colossal decision, but being intentional in learning about each other is more important than any indefinite waiting period.
